Is The Sail Loft Right For You?

Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
The bunk bedroom provides dedicated space for children. The enclosed courtyard patio offers a safe outdoor area for play, though the covered pond requires supervision. Appledore's pedestrianised streets allow children to explore safely. The village quay and seasonal ferry to Instow provide entertainment. Nearby attractions include The Big Sheep and beaches within easy reach for bucket-and-spade days.
For Couples
This property is better suited to families than couples. The bunk bedroom and family-friendly layout prioritise practicality over romance. However, the 17th century character and beamed ceilings create atmosphere. The courtyard patio allows private outdoor dining. Appledore's waterside bistros and pubs provide evening options. The working harbour setting offers authentic coastal walks for two.
Pet Friendly
The Sail Loft does not accept dogs or any other pets. This policy makes the property unsuitable for guests travelling with animals. The enclosed courtyard garden and pedestrianised location would otherwise be ideal for dog walking. Guests with pets should look for alternative accommodation in the Appledore area that welcomes animals.

The Sail Loft Reviews

Chantal
The backyard garden is messed with timber and gutter. No place to sit and relax. The window and the door leading to the garden cannot be locked. So anybody could get into the loft. The sofa and its quilts and cushions is filthy. Not a place you want to sit on.
Sue
Very dirty, need to employ a better cleaner.
Dawn
A little hidden gem of a cottage and do not be put off by the alleyway as the accommodation is worth it. Just note that there is no washing machine but I am sure if you needed too then you could find a launderette and also in the welcome pack it states coin meter but we never found one in the cottage, so can only assume it was taken out as we never ran out of electric. I would recommend this little hidden gem but it is for only four people cofortably.
Stuart
The apartment is handy for exploring North Devon and Cornwall, with many well known tourist attractions within easy reach by road. Unfortunately access with luggage etc. is slightly difficult due to the property's location, hidden away down a network of alleyways. Definitely look to park in the nearby Churchfields Pay and Display car park (0.3 miles away), as street parking anywhere nearer the property is a near impossibility. And don't forget to have a pint at the Champ!
Lucie
The sail loft was very comfortable and well equipped, would recommend it to anyone visiting Appledore
Karyn
We love our stay at the Sail Loft...The location is great, about a couple of minutes walking distance to the bakery, winebar, pub, etc. You can see the adjacent patio through the bay window and is accessed by the small door, next down the alley (no 2). The parking is a lottery, the last 2 nights we had to park further away as no places were avaliable when we came back late at night.
Rebecca
Lovely cottage . Cosy and quaint . The windows in the bedrooms were locked and could only be crack open a tiny bit, which made getting any ventilation into the bedrooms was not possible..the only exit to the property was the door. If we had to evacuate because of fire, no emergency exit??
Tom
Although the walk down the alley way to the cottage was unlit and over grown the property was a good location. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was well equipped. The cottage could definitely do with an update as everything seemed very worn. If you were using the property for just sleeping and going out it was ok but anything more we wouldnââ?¬â?¢t stay again. It needs a good clean!
James
Access to the Sail Loft is a bit tricky due to the narrow alley way. I found it was all we needed for four of us. Bathroom could do with an update but everything we needed was there. There is no outdoor space and the two main sash windows overlook someone elseââ?¬â?¢s courtyard, so we didnââ?¬â?¢t want to open them. Small but comfortable. Parking in Appledore is a lottery. Park in the first space you find, donââ?¬â?¢t gamble on getting one closer. Local carparks are free from 1800-0800.
