Is Francis Cottage Right For You?

Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
The enclosed lawn garden with mature trees gives children safe outdoor play space. Woolacombe Beach sits one mile away with three miles of sand for building castles and paddling. The coastal path offers easy family walks with rock pools to explore. The third bedroom has its own TV for quiet time. Hard flooring throughout makes sandy feet and spills easy to clean up after beach days.
For Couples
This property works better for families than couples due to its size and layout. The three bedrooms and spacious living areas suit larger groups rather than romantic breaks. The sea views from the bay windows are impressive but the traditional family setup lacks intimate spaces. Couples wanting a romantic retreat would find smaller properties more suitable for their needs.
Pet Friendly
Two dogs are welcome at Francis Cottage. The large enclosed lawn surrounded by mature trees and shrubs provides secure space for dogs to run and play safely. Woolacombe Beach allows dogs year-round on certain sections. The coastal footpath offers excellent walking routes directly from the property. Hard flooring throughout the main living areas makes cleaning up after muddy paws straightforward after outdoor adventures.

Francis Cottage Reviews

Linda
We had an enjoyable holiday in March at Francis Cottage and our recent second visit in October was even better even though the weather wasnâ??t as good, particularly as both bedding and towels had been upgraded. I did think that as it was the end of the summer season things would be looking a little tired. I needn't have worried the place was spotless. My husband, Finley our Cockapoo and I all think itâ??s a perfect place to stay and hopefully will return again next year.
Patricia
The location and views from the cottage were superb.
John
The cottage and its location are every bit as good as the website description. The views are just stupefying.
Lisa Justine
We have been staying in Francis cottage, on and off, for almost 20 years. We love the location and the amazing views of the beach from both the living room and the main bedroom. The house is spacious, with a wonderful verandah for eating outdoors but under cover, there is easy parking right outside and a great footpath down to the beach from the gate at the end of the garden. Over the years the house has seen some changes and we feel the "feel" of the property has changed. With the easy clean flooring, wipeable upholstery and quick dry bed linen, the property is not going to win any interior design awards. Checkout time at 9:00am seems a little early for those who have just enjoyed a week's holiday too. This said we have many happy memories of the times we have spent here as a family and will continue to visit as finances allow.
Andrew
Fantastic location. The updates and improvements to the cottage have made a major difference, so much better. The only negative to the new look, is the boarded up fireplace which looks horrible. Bathrooms nice and clean, but the lounge wasnâ??t. I had to clean dust and crumbs off the settee before we sat down. The floor needed a good mop. Particularly irritating when check in isnâ??t until 5pm and check out at 9 am to allow time for thorough cleaning! The TV only works part on the time, and the heating wasnâ??t working when we arrived. However, we keep coming back because we find it homely and comfortable and the views are second to none. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review, the homeowner has revised the arrival and departure times to arrival 4pm and departure by 10am. The fireplace is also being addressed as part of ongoing updates.
Linda
We had a wonderful holiday at Francis Cottage. The lounge and bedrooms were very comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well kitted out with everything you would find at home including a large fridge freezer (handy for my Tesco delivery), dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. The path, accessed from the bottom garden gate, made it an easy walk down to the beach. This was an early morning walk we really enjoyed with Finley our dog. The secure garden was also perfect.
Julie
Lovely bungalow with stunning views. Only negative was the furniture is very dated and the hole place is in desperate need of a deep clean. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review, the homeowner has been made aware of this and has rectified the cleanliness issues. They are also looking to update the property over the coming months.
Erica
Brilliant location for the beach and village and we loved the covered terrace and furniture.
Joan
A very spacious and immaculately clean property. Sit on the balcony all day - watch the surfers, hear the sea, feel the breeze and soak up the sun. For those who are fit and able, there's quick and easy access to the beach and the village shops. Excellent holiday location.
Scott
The location is superb, you can look out to see pretty much the full length of the beech yet it is in a quiet location but only a 3 minute walk to the "centre" of Woolacombe. Very spacious and clean. Only issue we had was slow WiFi (made streaming programmes impossible at times-this seemed to coincide with wet days when I guess everyone was doing the same). The property is very recently renovated and well equipped kitchen.
Kim
The house was just perfect. Super clean and kitchen was very well stocked with utensils. Garden is secure for the dogs, and the views from the patio, lounge and master bedroom are to die for. We will definitely be back.
Lynn
This is an exceptional home in a superb location. We had the best holiday with our 2 teenagers. The view magnificent and surf at your doorstep. Lovely food in Woolacombe, would definitely return to this house again. Thank you!
Danny
Love the renovationsâ?¦
Paul
Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of space. Found the TV's difficult to use if you just want normal channels like BBC or ITV. I don't see why the check out time is so early and the check in so late. I woukd have thought a 3 pm check in would be more acceptable to most people.
James
Fantastic, well equipped Cottage, spectacular views, great location. Had a fantastic holiday with our 4yr old grandson. Only downside was TV, only way to watch mainstream channels is through apps.
